Once again, My son Rob and I, were close enough to see "Jethro Tull" in 2004!!! Just like Ian Anderson had promissed, we heard some never played before material!!! The concert was in 2 parts, with the first being acoustical in nature, and the 2nd half of the concert more heavy metal "Tull". There was no back up group at this show, and it began with the stage set with a "mini drum set" at the front of the stage for Mr. Doanne Perry, and all of the band members at the front of the stage. Martin Barre, Andrew Giddings, Jonathon Noyce, and Doanne Perry all took turns in helping Ian Anderson introduce the songs, and explain about the background of the songs. The set list of the first half is as follows:
Life Is A long Song Skating Away On The Thin Ice Of A New Day Eurology Jack In The Green Slipstream I Raise My Glass To You! (Martin Barre) "Stage Left" Up The Pool Dun Rungill Cheap Day Return Mother Goose Wondering Aloud In The Grip Of Stonger Stuff Bouree' (The Jethro Tull Christmas Album) version
There was a 20 minute interval between acts as the roadies set the stage for the 2nd half of the concert. Although there was no warm up act, the band had "Norak Ross Patterson", a blues guitarist, join them for a couple of numbers. Ross played guitar with Guy Davis at some of the 2003 concerts. The 2nd half of the show is as follows:
My Sunday Feeling Cross-Eyed Mary Pavane Weathercock Beggars Farm Brown angel (Norak Ross Patterson and Jethro Tull) A New Day Yesterday (with Ross Patterson) Farm On The Freeway My God Aqualung Wind-Up Encore: Locomotive Breath Protect And Survive Cheerio/Balloons
This was a great set list, and I hope some of you in the U.S get to see it in 2005. Ian mentioned some new releases: THE ISLE OF WRIGHT DVD THE ISLE OF WRIGHT CD THE JETHRO TULL CHRISTMAS ALBUM W/BONUS DVD
